May the river of my life flow into the sea of love that is all. - Rig Veda

‭ Ruth‬‭ Hofer‬‭ is‬‭ a‬‭ visual‬‭ artist‬‭ working‬‭ primarily‬‭ within‬‭ the‬‭ discipline‬‭ of‬‭ mixed media canvas paintings.‬‭ She‬ holds‬‭ a‬‭ Bachelor‬‭ of‬‭ Fine‬‭ Art‬‭ (majoring‬‭ in‬‭ Printmaking)‬‭ from‬‭ QCA‬‭ in‬‭ Brisbane,‬‭ Australia,‬‭ has‬ studied‬‭ woodblock‬‭ printing‬‭ at‬‭ undergraduate‬‭ level‬‭ in‬‭ Canada, and is currently undertaking visual arts practice with the Byron School of Art. ‬‭For‬‭ her,‬‭ art‬‭ makes sense‬‭ of‬‭ what‬‭ can’t‬‭ be‬‭ articulated‬‭ with‬‭ words‬‭ and‬‭ helps‬‭ connect to the‬‭ parts‬‭ of‬‭ life‬‭ that‬‭ feel‬‭ too‬‭ complex‬‭ to‬‭ describe‬‭ directly.‬‭ She‬‭ seeks‬‭ to‬‭ address‬‭ deeper philosophical questions utilising‬‭ a‬‭ minimalist‬‭ poetic‬‭ style,‬‭ transmuting big topics into‬‭ a‬‭ digestible‬‭ format‬‭ that‬‭ above‬‭ all‬‭ else,‬ seeks‬‭ the‬‭ beautiful‬‭ in‬‭ life.‬‭ Her‬‭ visual‬‭ style‬‭ is‬‭ mostly‬‭ intuitive,‬‭ highlighting‬‭ the‬‭ fluidity‬‭ and‬‭ shared‬ qualities‬‭ between‬‭ humans‬‭ and‬‭ the‬‭ natural‬‭ world.‬‭ Found‬‭ images‬‭ and‬‭ words‬‭ act‬‭ as‬‭ metaphorical‬‭ aids,‬ serving as cultural signifiers while questioning known reality.‬

I am honoured to live, learn and work on the ancestral lands of the the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation. I acknowledge the First Australians as the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history.
